ABOUT THE AREA
Golden Sandy Beaches
The sea is only 300m away with access to other beaches not far.
Enjoy the sun and sand relaxing on the nearby Kanouli beach. Treat yourself to a natural face & body pack with the grey clay, which is plentiful on this beach, before rinsing off in the Ionian sea.
Just 1.5km away are Lake Korrision and the sand dunes at Halikounas beach; Halikounas is a popular destination for kite surfers, with a couple of tavernas & beach bars (photo on the left) on the way.
Northwards along the coast are Prassudi at 2.5km, Skala and Paramonas beaches at 3km. All of which boast more tavernas, sunbeds and umbrellas. Pedal boat hire is available on Paramonas beach.
Just a few km away is the traditional bustling mountain village of Agios Mattheos (photo on the left).
With a population of 3000+ it is the largest working village on the island.
Here you will find supermarkets, bakeries, a butchers, a post office, doctors and a pharmacy along a street lined with cafes and tavernas that are open all year round. The supermarket 'Coop Varagoulis' in the centre of the village Agios Mattheos offers home delivery and will even take you to and from the villa in their van to do the shopping yourself!
A footpath leads from the village of Agios Mattheos up the mountain to the Monastery of Pantokratoras.
A 13th-century Byzantine castle and the only surviving medieval fortress on the southern part of the island. Built by a ruler of the Despotate of Epirus it was 1 of 3 castles defending the island before the Venetian era (1401–1797); the others being in Kassiopi Castle (NE) and Angelokastro (NW).
Monastery of Pantokratoras
At the top of the mountain lies a 16th century monastery (photo on the left). No longer used it still offers many spectacular view points!
The Corfu Walking Trail
The Corfu Walking Trail is waymarked in strategic locations with yellow signs, bearing the letters CT and a directional arrow. Between signs, yellow paint markers confirm the route. The Corfu Trail takes walkers in a south to north direction.
The nearby part of the Trail starts at Lake Korission, it follows tracks and a section of road to reach Paramonas. There is also a path from Agios Mattheos to the monastery Pantokratoras. This is great for walks and physiotherapists.

The name Liostasi is the Greek word for olive grove. Our villa lies in the heart of the olive groves close to the sandy, grey clay lined, shores of the Ionian sea.
Our villa is a privately owned gated property with plenty of space for parking. It has TV/Satellite TV & free WIFI throughout, a safe in each house for your important documents plus a First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguisher. Each house is fitted with 100% cotton bed linen, soft bathroom towels and extra pool towels for each guest.
